I’m Emily. I’m a nurse with a passion for creativity and metalsmithing. I created Silvermist as a small line of jewelry to honor and explore materials that come from the Earth. I feel a strong connection with the natural landscape that surrounds me and I draw a lot of my inspiration from my grandmother, Ilse’s, watercolor paintings hung throughout my Denver studio.

For several years I have been experimenting in brass, silver, gold, clay, leather, precious and found stones, and any material that inspires me! I often collaborate with my sister, Malorie Dix to make glazed ceramic elements to add into my designs.

I want to create pieces that are easy, great for layering, and are sure to become staples in your wardrobe.

A glimpse into my home studio…

My studio may be teeny-tiny (occupying a corner of my downtown Denver apartment), but it has everything I need to make my vision come to life.

You will find that my work has a tactile quality— the smooth finish of glazed stoneware, the sandy tooth of fired clay, the satisfying ripple of hammered silver. My pieces are nuanced, rustic, and satisfying to hold. Imperfections are what I live for!

A weekend in the mountains, a bonfire at sunset, the magic of goldenhour on a canyon trail…my Colorado surroundings are endlessly inspiring.
